Director & Producer

My films have used creative expression, music and performance art as a lens and allegory to explore identity, society and collaboration. I’m obsessed with the individual and societal benefits of music and creative community, and my documentary work aims to explore and inspire creative practice.

“Where Love Lives”

I directed and co-produced "Where Love Lives" for house & disco powerhouse Glitterbox - its first foray into feature-length film.

Through the stories of the kaleidoscopic family of queer-identifying performers that give Glitterbox its beating heart, and featuring Billy Porter, Honey Dijon, Sister Sledge, Nicky Siano and John ‘Jellybean’ Benitez, we explored identity, gender and how those driven to the margins of society have been welcomed unconditionally to the centre of the dancefloor since the birth of the disco nightclub. The film is available on Amazon Prime.

“Swindle - In Search of Harmony”

I directed and produced “In Search of Harmony” as an exploration of the creative potential of musical collaboration, embodied by British music producer, Swindle - one of the most fearlessly collaborative music makers I’ve worked with. Against the backdrop of Brexit and a Trump White House we sought an allegory to demonstrate that a cultural melting pot always produces something more wondrous than the sum of its parts.

Funded by Red Bull Music, it was shown at film festivals, edited into a short for Red Bull TV, and devised as a sprawling content package including breakaway live recordings, social shorts and a live show.

“Minilogue: As Human as Possible”

As Executive Producer of Ableton’s video content, I focussed on developing output towards a more filmic offering, that spoke not just to machine nerds, but to the fundamental humanity of creative practice. The goal was not just to instruct but to inspire music making, and to discuss its trials as well as its triumphs.

“Real Scenes: Johannesburg”

The ‘Real Scenes’ series was the springboard around which I built Resident Advisor’s film team; its Johannesburg feature was a particularly proud realisation of the intention: not to celebrate big names or brands, but to examine and exalt the grassroots cultural exchanges that take place between music and its environment.
